Main Session
During this session the students will learn how to pamper (take care of themselves) at home. They will learn how to do simple makeup, occasional makeup, carnival / Halloween makeup, Foot spa at home, Facial at home and plucking their eyebrows. The session can be divided into different lessons and the students need to each have their own material to use. It is very important they bring things that they are not allergic to and items they already might be using. Any allergies need to be notified

Hybrid Method
To introduce street directions the students first need to be aware of road signs.
Resources can be downloaded from Bottom to Top starting from Activity 1 and continues accordingly.

To start teaching road signs the best option is not to leave the usual classroom setting but to put the students into circle. The tutor will show the photos of the road signs starting with stop, traffic lights, crossing the road and others. With each one shown the tutor will allow some time for the students to think what they mean. This will allow the tutor to see the student’s prior knowledge regarding the subject in discussion. We will then discuss. Resources are found under: Activity 1 : Road Signs . The Traffic Road Signs (Large) can be used if slight visually individuals are part of the session therefore signs are needed since these are larger in size. A power points about Road signs will also be shown and analyzed with the students. The PowerPoint Activity 2 : Road signs will be used for this part. To check that they have learned the road signs the Activity 3 : Road Sign Puzzle activity will be placed on the floor. They will need to match the other side of the road sign. Those online can help by suggesting where the other parts are.
Starting off the session :
After the road sign activity, they will learn why we use the traffic lights and what each color means. This can be shown through the Traffic Lights Poster Resource and then following a video on YouTube about traffic lights : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NU6AU-w6fis
Maps represent the real world around us on a smaller scale and help students gain an understanding of directional concepts. Get your students interested in learning how to give directions. One needs to print the Activity 4: Map Directions Activity . The students will be divided into 2 groups. Each group will be given an A3 picture of the road together with the photos. The students need to imagine where they live and place the images in accordance to where they think they are situated on the map.
Those who are online will be sent the PowerPoint and they can do the same activity individually on the power point Map Presentation Activity online and they can show it through shared screen.
If students need prompting the tutor may ask the groups “Where is the school?” and some time will be given for them to place the school on the map.
- We will first introduce the words ‘right’ and ‘left’. We will see that everyone knows which their left is and which their right is. The tutor will place the Activity 5: Left and Right Hand Poster on the white board in A3.
- The tutor will ask the students which is their right hand and which is their left hand including those who are online. TIP : The tutor can help those who still need more practice by holding their arm out in front of them , flex their wrists up and extend their index fingers on both hands, the left hand with have a capital L for left.
The tutor will place a photo (Activity 6: Photo Directions Activity) of the following photos in the room :

- Roundabout
- Train Station

Activity Left and Right – Directions
Once this activity is done the students need to learn to ask directions to strangers and this will be done between them. The students who are doing the session face to face can ask those who are online for Directions. A model dialogue can resemble the following :
- Student Face to Face : Excuse me . How do I get to the convenience shop?
- Student online : Turn left, turn right at the 3rd corner and you will see it on your left
- Student Face to Face : Thank you !
- Student online : You are welcome.
Learning to Ask Directions
If students need visual flashcards, they can be presented with the left- and right-hand flashcard.
Prompting and open ended questions might be used by the tutor asking : “How do I get to the nearest shop ?”
To do this activity the student in class will take turns to do the activity with the participant online so that everyone would have a chance to practice.
It is always good to suggest that they use body language during this activity because communication will be facilitated in this way.
Google maps here will be introduced. The Sample of Locations in Birkirkara will be explained to the students as to teaching them how the locations are used on the Maps . If more explanation is needed the Google Maps PowerPoint can be shown to the students. On each power point notes are added for the tutor as pointers. The tutor will be showing online how to use Google Maps. The Flashcards of Street Directions will be shown to the students. Google maps will need to be shown using a laptop and a mobile. The students will each then try it out on their mobile, laptop or tablet with a location of their choice. This can be done both with students who are attending face to face and those online. All resources are uploaded in PDF and need to be printed. Resources are marked in Bold and Underline in the above lesson description.
