Nowadays Social media is a part of what makes us independent and inclusive within society so it is important that our students are knowledgeable about social media. In this session, the students will learn what social media is all about including it’s benefits and risk it brings with it. They will also learn how to download an application on their devices being a laptop or a mobile (android or IOS). They will also learn how to download and use: Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok and Facebook Messenger

 As an introduction to the session a PowerPoint about social media and it’s safety will be introduced to the students. The Power Point entitled Social media will be shared online so that both those online and those in class will follow. The slides which include various questions are aimed to create a discussion with the pupils. In addition, an activity - the sorting Game is also found in the resources where the students will need to decide if it is okay to share on the social media or if you cannot share on social media. After the PowerPoint, a discussion can be done to see what students have learned. The tutor will be using Discussion Social Media PowerPoint .  

An online quiz can also be used where the students are given the link and a discussion can follow once they respond. The link is to be found on : https://www.proprofs.com/quiz-school/quizshow.php?title=social-media-quiz&q=2 .

Following that, a discussion about what they can and should not share on social media worksheet can be done as a discussion. The worksheet will be shared on a shared screen with both online and face to face students . The worksheet is : Personal Information Who Can We Share It With.

 The tutor will be explaining through a video how to download any application using android and IOS through a video from youtube. The tutor will show and use the video in accordance to what devices the students have. Whilst watching the video the tutor might need to stop and explain and show from their devices. In addition, the video might need to be watched by students more than once.

The students will now download an application of their choice on their mobile or on their tablet. They might need assistance in this part from the tutor.  Social Media Flashcards can also be used shared online and in class if any of the students need them. 

We will then proceed to downloading social media applications. The tutor will show the below videos from YouTube on how to download Facebook, Instagram and Tiktok. The videos will be both for android and IOS then the tutor will adapt in accordance to the students devices. After each video the students will download them on their mobile or on their tablet. Again, assistance might be needed in this case from the tutor. It is very important that repetition might be needed whilst the video is ongoing and they might require seeing the video more than once. It is also crucial to stop and explain better by the tutor showing them on their device mobile or tablet.  Social Media Flashcards can also be used shared online and in class if any of the students need them.

It is very important that repetition might be needed whilst the video is on going and they might require seeing the video more than once. It is also crucial to stop and explain better by the tutor actually showing them on their device mobile or tablet.
